Agasthyakoodam Peak

Agasthyakoodam peak stands at a height of 1868 metres above sea level. You can only access this peak by foot. The Agasthyakoodam Peak is a haven for avid trekkers as it is the second largest peak in Kerala. According to the local legends, this peak was once a home to the Saint Agasthya; because of this, women aren’t allowed to enter the peak. The peak is a storehouse for many Ayurvedic medicinal plants. You can pay the entry fee at the entry point, which lies close to the Munnar-Udumalpet main road.

Anamudi Peak

While trekking you could enjoy the sight of the Vaigai, the Thamirabarani, and the Periyar River flowing into the Arabian Sea. On the peak, you will pass by many Asian elephants, Gaurs, and Nilgiri Tahrs. If you come at the right time, you can get to see the hillside filled with the bloom of the Neelakurinji. The Neelakurinji blooms only once in 12 years. You would have to take prior permission from the Eravikulam National Park Authorities before you go trekking.

Dhoni Hills

You just have to trek 4 kilometres from the bottom of the hills. This trekking experience will help you to get into the very soul of the Western Ghats. It has many wildlife. Trekkers can see leopards, sloth bears, Nilgiri langur, and other rare mammals. You can even get to see many bird species like the Malabar whistling thrush, Asian fairy blue birds and the bee-eaters. Ponmudi

Ponmudi is a part of the Western Ghats and it lies parallel to the Arabian Sea. It has a wide variety of wildlife. This place is also famous for people who are seeking Ayurvedic treatments. It also houses the broad-tailed grass birds, a threatened species of birds. Ponmudi acts as a base for several trekking and hiking trails. The trekking trail starts from the Kallar River Bridge and it proceeds upstream along the banks of the Kallar River and finally ends at the Meenmutty Waterfalls. The entry fee has to be paid at the entry point. It even has government accommodation for the tourists.
